There is excellent walking in the Strathearn area of Perthshire. After exploring Muthill itself, there are riverside routes, hills, a waterfall and gorge to discover. There are gentle strolls for the Sunday rambler: Lady Mary’s Walk along the River Earn; the woody slopes of the Knock of Crieff. Crieff nature trail has much in its favour, including the chance to stop for refreshments at the golf centre half way. Ben Vorlich, at 983m, is the highest peak in the area. Rising above the River Earn, the 11km round trip is worth it for the views.

Alison and Fabrice have close links with local walking guides and are happy to put guests in touch with experts to help them get the most out of the area.

Crieff’s annual walking festival, Drovers’ Tryst, is all about getting out and exploring the area on foot. Barley Bree would make an ideal base for this enjoyable event.
